Vehicle Tracking & Fleet Management

This project is a full-stack vehicle tracking and fleet management system built using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js). It integrates hardware-based GPS tracking with a modern web interface, offering real-time monitoring, data analysis, and driver behavior insights. Designed for logistics, delivery, and transport businesses, the solution improves safety, operational efficiency, and accountability.

Key features include live vehicle tracking, journey replays, geofencing alerts, and remote camera management. The system also offers detailed performance reports and driver profiling to help businesses manage fleets more effectively. Real-time notifications keep managers informed of critical events such as harsh driving or zone breaches.

With scalable architecture and secure API integration, the platform ensures fast data transmission from GPS devices to the dashboard. The result is a robust and reliable tool for managing vehicle fleets at scale.

The challenge of project

Developing a real-time GPS tracking system presented several technical challenges. Handling continuous live data streams required optimized socket communication and responsive front-end state management. Integrating with hardware tracking devices involved synchronizing GPRS commands and parsing complex data packets.

Scalability was another major concern—ensuring the system could support hundreds of active connections and real-time events without lag. Additionally, secure data transmission between IoT devices and backend servers was critical to prevent tampering or unauthorized access. These hurdles were addressed through efficient backend design and strict security protocols.
